Merry Christmas;
Growing up I was always fascinated by the lights at Christmas time. This year one of the things I remember was as a child focusing on the light over the manger scene at my grandparents’ house after night fall.
In the gospel of Luke we read about the shepherds working at night when the unexpected happened: “An angel of the LORD appeared to them and the glory (or radiance) of the LORD shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angels said to them do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.” Luke 2:9, 10
The glory or radiance of the LORD is no small thing. It is light that defeats darkness. Jesus truly is the light of the world. I have been praying that the truth of Jesus would be evident tonight. It is because of Jesus that we have eternal hope. “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you He is Christ the LORD.” – Luke 2:11 Tonight we celebrate the good news that the light of Jesus shines through the darkness of this world. Jesus brings hope to the broken, hurting and lost. Jesus came to rescue bringing peace, mercy, grace and forgiveness for all who would receive HIM. Jesus has made it possible for you and me to walk with Him in a saving relationship.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural decent, nor human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” - John 1:12-13
God really does love you! I am praying that each of you would know the joy that comes from trusting in Jesus, the light of the world. If you are here tonight and would like to know more about what it means to walk with Jesus as your LORD and Savior or maybe you just have some questions, I want to invite you to come back, or to contact us, we would be glad to talk with you more about Jesus and His love for you.
Merry Christmas! GOD is GOOD!
